the shelter for ski tours

I've made the shelter fo my skiing activities. Usually I use it for overnights after when traveling with skis. The shelter was made of carton then isolated with compacted snow. There is the stationary stove inside which requires dry firewood. The main goal was to check if it's possible to use a stove in snow shelter with thin isolating walls inside. The colder the weather the best results.

Mountain trekking in Tien Shan

August 2008

From Novosibirsk we start by train going to Almaty the former capital of Kazakhstan. It takes 1,5 days to get there cause border control requires 4-6 hours for checking documents. No problems and early morning we came out of car and try to find taxi to Karakol which is located in Kyrgyzstan. Some negotiating for saving our money and nice bus is ready to drive to Karakol where we have agreement for offroad transportation to mountains.

Then we trek further to the great valley before high mountains

After staying overnight with wonderful views

We go up and up

You see me passing snow angle

for great views ...

And we found comfortable place for camping with huge store of fresh water :)

Next day after performing the pass we saw wonderful snow phenomenon like this

And finally we approached Dzhigit peak (over 5000 m) which was the goal.

Another wonderful evening ...

Next day was the hard climbing

And hard descending. Sorry but the weather was awful to take pics on the top. We reached the top and went away by Ukraine pass.

High altitude camping

Going down

We visited Golden Arashan hot water sources where aborigines presented these ancient buddhistic stones. The stones belonged to monks lived there long time ago.

When returned to Karakol we visited local Zoo

That was great trip of many impressions. All participants were healthy and happy.
